As an ambitious tech-startup, your #1 goal is to attract, convert and keep customers in your business. However, considering your startup is likely short on resources, you can’t afford loosing indispensable time and money to marketing initiatives with a negative ROI.
The secret to identifying high-value leads, move them through the sales funnel at lightning speed and at low acquisition costs, is by building buyer personas. That’s right. Knowing your target audience, how to get their attention and convert them to leads and ultimately customers is one of the most important skills that you should master from the beginning. Yet, the inability to market is a common failure in tech-startups, especially among founders who likes to code or build products, but who don’t relish the idea of promoting the product.
Don’t be that dude.
Nailing the types of people who benefit from your solutions and the challenges you help them solve is critical to your efforts to attract, convert and retain customers and thus your opportunities to become the next scalable tech-unicorn. And while you may have touched upon this during your business model generation phase of your startup, it’s now time to create buyer personas and use them actively in your sales efforts.
Buyer personas are research-based, semi-fictional and generalized profiles that represent your target audience and can help you adapt key aspects of your sales and support for greater success. However, B2B sales differ greatly to B2C as the decision making process characteristically needs more than one individual signing off and are not based on an emotional response. The same goes for B2B vs. B2C buyer personas – they are very different!
